Ever wondered how the country you live in compares to others in terms of animal welfare? Living in South Africa (with one of the largest rhino poaching rates in the world along with a substantial number of abused or neglected animals) I have often dreamed about moving to a place where animals are treated as they deserve (as our equals).
World Animal Protection created a chart that shows which countries treat their animals the best.
The purpose of the chart is to drive awareness about the importance of protecting animals, and to put animal protection firmly on the global agenda.50 countries were analysed in this study. The chart has a rating from A to G, with A being the most “animal-friendly”. Countries including New Zealand, the UK, and Austria came out tops.
